Competitor analysis services. Map the rivals, find the gap.

Competitor analysis services show what your rivals claim, where they rank, what they advertise and which of them AI assistants recommend, and turn that into a list of moves for you. yop runs competitor analysis from Tallinn for one market or several, combining Semrush data with a close reading of each competitor.

Competitor analysis

What does a competitor analysis involve?

A competitor analysis compares your company with the others your buyers consider, on the things that decide the sale: the promise, the price, the product, how easy they are to find and how they sell. Its job is to show where you can win, not to describe everyone else at length.

Tools such as Semrush and Ahrefs give the raw numbers: keywords, traffic estimates, backlinks, ad copy. The analysis is the part a tool can’t do: reading the positioning, going through the buying journey, checking what ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews say when someone asks for a supplier like you, and deciding which gaps are worth taking.

  • Direct competitors. Firms offering what you offer, to the people you sell to.
  • Indirect competitors. Other ways buyers solve the same problem, including doing it in-house or not at all.
  • Search competitors. Sites that take the clicks for your keywords, even when they sell something else.
  • AI answer competitors. Whoever ChatGPT or Gemini suggests when someone asks them to recommend a supplier like you.

How it runs

Four steps to a clear lead.

01

Pick the rivals

You name the competitors you know; we add the ones that search results and AI answers show for your keywords.

02

Collect

Search, ads, site, content and AI answer data for each competitor, in every market you choose.

03

Read

We go through their sites, ads and offers as a buyer would and note what works and what doesn’t.

04

Act

A report with a ranked list of moves, each with the effort it takes and who should do it.

How often

How often is a competitor analysis worth repeating?

A full analysis once a year is enough for most companies, with a lighter check every quarter on rankings, ads and AI answers, where things change fastest. Run a full one again when a new competitor appears, when you lose several deals in a row to the same company, or before you enter a new country.

yop can set up the quarterly check as a short report, so changes show up there before they show up in your sales.

Your rivals

Give us two rival names, we’ll find the gaps.

Send us your site and the two companies you meet most often. In two working days one of the founders writes back with what we would compare first.

Questions

Asked about competitors.

What does a competitor analysis involve?

A competitor analysis compares your company with the others your buyers consider, on positioning, price, product, search and AI visibility and sales process. Its output is a list of gaps you can use and threats you need to answer.

At yop: a list of direct, indirect and search competitors, a positioning map, search and backlink data, ads and offers, a test of each buying journey, the brands AI assistants recommend for your topics, and a ranked action list.

Semrush covers keywords, estimated traffic, backlinks and ads; Google’s tools supply search data; and we run hand tests in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Every number from a tool is checked against the competitor’s actual pages.

Begin with the firms that win the deals you lose. Then look at who ranks for your main keywords, and ask an AI assistant to recommend a supplier in your field. The names that come up in all three are your real competitors.

yop charges a fixed price agreed after a short discovery call. The price depends on how many competitors and markets are compared and whether a quarterly check is included.

Yes. yop compares competitors country by country in eight languages, because the companies that win in Germany are rarely the ones that win in Türkiye or Estonia.

Most clients use it to brief the next steps: positioning, the website, SEO or ads. yop can do that work too, or hand the action list to your own team.
